Press Release 2025 ‘Russian Autumn’ in Hong Kong – ‘Taste, Feel, Hear, Discover Russian Culture’

From 29 October to 30 November 2025 Hong Kong’s Russian-speaking community will be holding the 9th Annual Russian Culture Festival in Hong Kong ‘Russian Autumn’. The Festival’s programme includes art and photography exhibitions, performances, cinema, dining, art and craft workshops and other cultural events showcasing the Hong Kong Russian-speaking community. The visitors have a chance to meet Russian artists, musicians, dancers, designers, chefs and entrepreneurs who live, work and create in Hong Kong.

The festival is organised by the Russian Club in Hong Kong with support of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in the Hong Kong SAR.

Marina Hoyle, The Russian Culture Festival’s Co-Founder shares: “Our events showcase abundance of Russian talents in Hong Kong’s diverse ethnic environment.  We share and promote our rich cultural heritage by creating exciting and unique artistic collaborations relevant to contemporary Hong Kong.”

“What does the Festival mean for us? Think of it as a vast Russian field, stretching as far as the eye can see. It is filled with vibrant colours of every flower, every herb, each being unique and beautiful. And just like those flowers, we are all different. We come from different backgrounds, have different talents, and hold different dreams. But here, in this field, we are united.  We share a love for our culture, for our heritage, and for the chance to create something extraordinary together”, – says Irina Ustyugova, the Russian Culture Festival’s Co-Founder.

‘ECHOES OF TOMORROW:  Women’s Perspectives Through Her Eyes’

The Joint Art Exhibition featuring Russian-speaking female artists: Anastasia Akimenko, Anna Salenko, Aya Mingazova, Sofia Kormilitsyna, Yulia Shautsukova, Viktoriya Burgess.

The Opening Exhibition will showcase diverse artworks and storytelling from prominent Russian-speaking female artists based in Hong Kong. Each piece tells a unique story, reflecting personal experiences and perspectives on a shared background. Experience the authentic expressions and vibrant creativity of these talented women as they connect through their art, offering a rich tapestry of storytelling and inspiration.

LIVE PERFORMANCE: Sculpture bringing to life by Anastasia Fabritskaia

A live performance featuring a talented sculptor Anastasia Fabritskaia creating a sculpture from a live model! Watch the artistry unfold over the course of an hour. Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy drinks in a vibrant atmosphere.

‘THE SPIRIT OF OUR LAND’

Welcome to our exhibition, a place where you can step in and feel right at home. As you explore the paintings and drawings, you will find familiar places or scenes that come straight from the memories of our talented artists. It is like taking a journey into their childhood, experiencing the places that shaped them. You can read stories inspired by dreams and see beautiful illustrations that bring these tales to life. And with the folk elements woven throughout the artworks, you will also have the chance to learn more about a land far away, discovering its traditions, colors, and stories. Step inside and let your imagination travel through the worlds created by these heartfelt creations.

A kokoshnik is a traditional Russian headdress, often worn by women and girls, that is known for its distinctive, often ornate, design.

During the Joint Art Exhibition ‘The Spirit of Our Land’, an artist Anastasiia Kraeva will facilitate art and craft workshops. You will not only learn about the history and significance of these beautiful Russian accessories but also create your own. We will also offer a photo session where you can dress in style and create lasting memories of this unique event, with the Hong Kong skyline as your backdrop.

MATRESHKA WORKSHOP

A Matreshka is a traditional Russian nesting doll, usually made of wood. It consists of a set of dolls of decreasing size that fit one inside another.

An artist Anastasiia Kraeva will facilitate art and craft workshops. You can create your very own Matreshka doll by joining our workshop – an exciting chance to craft, paint and personalize your unique nesting doll with your own hands.

BREAKFAST A LA RUSSE. A gastronomic experience with authentic Russian homemade dishes with the Morning Club

A gastronomic experience: breakfast served with authentic, delicious Russian homemade dishes such as syrniki (cottage cheese pancakes), blini (pancakes), homemade compote (a type of fruit drink), and many more. Delicious food and an authentic, cozy breakfast atmosphere – breakfast à la russe with the Morning Club.

THE STREET PHOTOGRAPHY: VISUAL STORIES. Streets through the eyes of Russian photographers in Hong Kong.

Street photography exhibition, a vibrant celebration of urban life through the eyes of four talented photographers. Each artist brings a unique vision and perspective, capturing the heartbeat of the city they love with authenticity and passion. From candid moments to striking compositions, their debut works reveal personal stories, cultural nuances, and the unspoken poetry of city streets. Join us as we explore diverse angles and heartfelt narratives that showcase their love for the city—its chaos, charm, and endless inspiration. This collection is a tribute to the city as a living canvas, seen through the intimate lenses of these emerging talents.
