«North Korea Mandatory Drinks Night”
On February 8, 2012 Russian Club in Hong Kong, Koryo Tours and Soiree invite you to a «North Korea Mandatory Drinks Night” (nothing is optional in North Korea) with a partial (20 min) screening of “A State of Mind” documentary shot deep inside the Stalinist state, presented by Simon Cockerell, co-producer of the film and General Manager of Koryo Tours.
He will be happy to answer your questions on the North Korea history and current affairs.
ALSO Enjoy a special signature North Korean cocktail from mixologist Tomi Ho for a discounted price.
Light snacks sponsored by Soiree.
“A State of Mind” shot over 8 months, follows the lives of two North Korean schoolgirls and their families, in the lead-up to the Mass Games — the biggest, most elaborate human performance on earth. Adhering to a strict routine of daily workouts and gymnastic instructions, the girls practiced through exhaustion—doing pirouettes and cartwheels on a cement floor—and proudly displayed their great love of the «Dear Leader» General Kim Jong Il (who died 17 December 2011). They speak frankly to the camera, offering some insight into this reclusive, Communist, Confucian society. The British film crew who were permitted unprecedented access, accompany them on their pre-dawn pilgrimage to one of the nation’s most sacred spots in the mountains, a national shrine shrouded in mystery, never before viewed by foreigners.
Doors open at 7.30, screening starts 7.50.
