\u201cA State of Mind\u201d shot over 8 months, follows the lives of two North Korean schoolgirls and their families, in the lead-up to the Mass Games \u2014 the biggest, most elaborate human performance on earth. Adhering to a strict routine of daily workouts and gymnastic instructions, the girls practiced through exhaustion\u2014doing pirouettes and cartwheels on a cement floor\u2014and proudly displayed their great love of the \u00abDear Leader\u00bb General Kim Jong Il (who died 17 December 2011). They speak frankly to the camera, offering some insight into this reclusive, Communist, Confucian society. The British film crew who were permitted unprecedented access, accompany them on their pre-dawn pilgrimage to one of the nation\u2019s most sacred spots in the mountains, a national shrine shrouded in mystery, never before viewed by foreigners.\n\n
